This “DIY Personalized Wood Burned Cutting Board” is one of my favorite projects so far. I think it came out awesome. It’s perfect for a house warming gift or a bridal shower.
My hubby got me this cutting board as part of my birthday present last year and I was supposed to “personalize” it but that never happened until just now. I just never got to it and now that I finally did it I feel bad for waiting so long because it literally took me just over an hour from start to finish. And it looks so pretty sitting on my kitchen counter!!
Follow my video tutorial below or just scroll down and read my step by step instructions for this super easy DIY project!
Stuff you will need:
- Wood cutting board
- Wood burning tool (I got mine from Michaels with a 40% off coupon)
- Logo template (you can get a personalized design on my Etsy shop)
I designed the template in photoshop but you can also use Microsoft Word and just use Word Art. Or you can get a personalized digital file to download from my Etsy shop here and just print it out on regular paper. Just remember though, if you have text in it then it would need to be flipped for the transfer! If you purchase it from my shop then I will already provide you with the flipped image as well.
You will need to put on the transfer tip (comes with the kit) and turn on the wood burning tool. I use the hottest setting and thats just my preference but you could certainly play around with it and practice on a scrap piece of wood before you actually start on your project.
Make sure to tape just one side of the paper so you could lift it up every now and then during the transfer to see how its progressing.
Once the tool is hot enough, you’re ready to start. Go in circular motion lightly over the back of your design. You will probably have to go over it a few times to darken the transfer just enough that you can see the details for the wood burning part.
After the transfer, it will look something like this.
Now you’re ready to start wood burning! There are a few different tips that come with the wood burning kit. I mostly use the one shown in the video.
So thats it! Now you have your very own personalized wood burned cutting board to wow your guests. Do you think you will give this a try? If you do, please do let me know how it went in the comments section below…. and I would love to see pictures!
